Life Matters Radio

After a fantastic run on the radio from 2002 to 2012, "Life Matters with Dr. David Cox" has signed off. This all began as an idea Dwayne Corn came up with for a live, local, call-in radio program to give sound, Biblical advice on matters that people seemed to struggle with like marriage, family, parenting and finances.

So we began with Dwayne as my co-host at Christian Talk AM 660 WLFJ in August 2002. The only bad idea Dwayne had was that he suggested naming the program, "Issues and Tissues." How awful is that!! We would have been off the air in a week with that name. During that time, we had a live, one hour, call-in program that reached many people. I had the wonderful privilege of working with Gary Miller of WLFJ as my co-host as well.

In 2004, the program moved to WSPG AM 1400 in Spartanburg with T.C. Lewis as the first co-host and producer. After Dwayne Corn moved to WSPG, the program was broadcast live from the Beacon Drive-In with Dwayne as my co-host once again. Matt "Smitty" Smith served as the Producer for those broadcasts. That was quite an adventure as you could hear the late J.C. Stroble barking out orders in the background at the Beacon. "Call it!"

About 2006, WSPG changed to an all sports format and became known as ESPN Spartanburg. However, because Kenny Church of the Beacon Drive-In and Mark Hauser of ESPN Spartanburg wanted to keep the program on the air, we moved to a taped, half hour broadcast on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM with my son, Phil Cox serving as the Co-Host and Engineer. Phil served in that capacity from 2006 until 2012. We had a blast doing the program together. I think our listeners enjoyed Phil's input more than mine.

Many thanks to Dwayne Corn, Gary Miller, Ken Mayfield, and Rob Dempsey at Christian Talk AM 660/His Radio for their support. Thank you to T.C. Lewis, Matt Fulmer, Dwayne Corn, Mark Hauser and Matt Smith at WSPG 1400 AM and 97.1 FM/ESPN Spartanburg for their support.

It's been a blessing for me to share with you what God has shared with me. I fully anticipate that "Life Matters with Dr. David Cox" will be back on the air one day when the season is right. Thank you for listening!

Our thanks go The Beacon Drive-In for their

weekly support and sponsorship of this program.
